JOB TITLE: Swim Instructor
LOCATION: Westchester Country Club, Rye, New York
DEPARTMENT: Beach Club - Aquatics
COMPENSATION: Non-Exempt (overtime eligible), $18.00-$20.00 per hour commensurate with experience, additional instruction fees
Please note: Per New York State law, in order to be legally authorized for employment, all Minors must obtain and provide their Student General Employment Certificate (Working Papers) prior to beginning their first day of employment and to be kept on file for the duration of their employment.
POSITION OBJECTIVE:
This position is responsible for providing swimming lessons and aquatic classes to Members and Guests.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Conduct swim lessons and aquatic classes in accordance with WCC program standards
- Ensure Members and Guests are provided with a safe learning environment throughout lessons/classes
- Evaluate swimming and certification skills, completing progress reports and course records for each session and effectively communicating with parents and participants
- Effectively communicate all pool rules and ensure you are accessible and identifiable for any and all questions
- Maintain pool logs, incident/accident reports, Locker Room checks and other Aquatics Department documentation as required
- Attend staff meetings and trainings as required

- Provide excellent service to Members and Guests
- Maintain friendly and encouraging attitude both during and outside of lessons/classes
- Adhere to all WCC guidelines, policies and procedures
- Carry out all reasonable requests made by Aquatics Supervisors and/or Aquatics Director
- Availability to work a flexible schedule throughout summer season, including weekends and holidays
JOB QUALIFICATION STANDARDS:
The following describes the general qualifications and physical, sensory and mental abilities normally associated with performing the essential functions of this position.
EDUCATION & SKILLS:
- Prior swim instruction experience a plus
- First Aid Certification
- CPR Certification
- Minimum age requirement is 16 to meet NYS Minor Law Guidelines
- Ability to follow routine verbal and written instructions
- Presents professional appearance and attitude at all times, and maintains a high standard of customer service
- Strong communication skills
