POSITION: Summer 2023 (May-October) | Seasonal Server

COMPENSATION: Non-Exempt (Overtime eligible)

POSITION OBJECTIVE:

The Server is responsible for the complete service of food and beverages in our various a la carte outlets, catering to all Member and Guest needs according to established rules of etiquette. Servers work closely with Runners and Server Assistants in order to provide Members and Guests with an enjoyable dining experience.


ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

- Take food and beverage orders, entering accurately into Jonas system

- Explain specials and up-sell additional items based on pre-shift suggestions

- Assist Host and Management with meeting, greeting and seating of guests when needed

- Assure Members and Guests are provided timely and efficient service

- Ensure smooth communication and coordination with Front and Back of House team members

- Ensure meals are delivered at proper time and as ordered

- Clear tables as needed

PERFORMANCE EXPECTATIONS:

- Maintain courteous and professional attitude throughout service and at all times

- Ability to manage entire station as designated by the dining room Captain or Manager

- Anticipate Member and Guest needs and requests

- Demonstrate knowledge of all menu items, including ingredients, presentation, and methods of preparation

- Demonstrate ability to present and up-sell specials and other menu items, answer questions and make suggestions regarding food and wine pairing

- Serve and clear food and beverage quietly and professionally, in a timely manner, and using proper techniques

- Handle all complaints in a courteous and professional manner

- Demonstrate ability to work as part of a team, ensuring smooth communication, cooperation and coordination with Front and Back of the House team members


JOB QUALIFICATION STANDARDS:

The following describes the general qualifications and physical, sensory and mental abilities normally associated with performing the essential functions of this position. 

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

- High School degree; or equivalent or three to six months of related experience or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience


KNOWLEDGE AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS:

-  Ability to operate all job-related equipment, including but not limited to, POS, coffee machines, Espresso machines

- Ability to employ basic math and written skills


LANGUAGE AND COMMUNICATION SKILLS:

- Ability to effectively present information in English language in on-on-one and small group settings


PHYSICAL, SENSORY AND MOTOR DEMANDS:

- Frequent standing for extended periods of time

- Regular lifting up to 10 Lbs. and occasional lifting and/or moving up to 25 Lbs.

- Occasional stooping, kneeling, crouching

- Able to multitask and operate within a fast paced, high stress/high pressure environment (Head and Action)
