Food and Beverage Rotational Training (Season 2023)

This position is designed for Interns/Trainees under the J1 Visa Training Program.

Program/Posititon Outline:

Supervisory Exposure Phase:

The intern will be spending time with the management team while reviewing service and operational challenges with objective of constantly improve service standards and address guest complaints. During this phase of the training the Intern will be helping management in collecting analytical data using company software and building financial analysis.

Beach Club and Banquet Training:

During this phase the intern will be focusing on Food and Beverage Flows and Labor Management. The intern will be now reviewing Dining Room Set up by following event orders and will prepare side work charts. The intern will help management to build opening and closing procedures and will assign employees to different areas of the dining room based on service needs. The intern will be also helping management to develop staffing pars, training materials and to build schedules following budgets. During this phase we will also teach the intern on how to discipline employees and about the importance of time and attendance with objective of communicate sense of responsibility within a large team.

Sports House Management (Formal Dining) Phase:

During this phase we want the intern to focus on menu design, menu development as well as food preparation techniques and descriptions. The intern will be also exposed to wine list maintenance and to the necessary steps to successfully run a beverage program also to all facility management aspects in order to maintain dining room details up to standards and equipment 100% efficient at all times. This last practice will help the intern in building relationships with other departmental leaders and to understand chain of command communication structure. In addition we will review our reservation system and teach the intern on how optimize booking and structure a dining room setup.

Comprehensive Training Plan designed with Food and Beverage Team. 

Primary areas of responsibility will include, quickly to familiarizing with our Fine Culinary Program, taking orders, up-selling and serving our members in a professional and courteous manner, to ensure they have a flawless and memorable experience when they patronize our Food and Beverage outlets.  You may have the opportunity to train at our various Food and Beverage outlets at the Main Club as well as the Beach Club, based on Westchester Country Club business needs.
